The first play we’re off to see at The Write Now Festival is The Dressmaker’s Gift on Sunday 28th March @ 5.30pm. The press night trailer included a moving performance from writer Anita Franklin, so we can’t wait to see the full piece!
The play tells the story of three generations of African American women in Brooklyn, New York struggling with life, love and dressmaking In the late 1970’s. This premiere production is directed by Amanda Huxtable and stars Angela Wynter (Yolande Trueman from East Enders).
We’ll be catching up with Anita and the cast for a drink and to talk about the play after the performance.
