Geek Chic & New Years Eve
It’s been a little while but we couldn’t say goodbye to 2008 without catching up and celebrating what has been a very busy and exciting Capital of Culture Year for culturepool!
Liverpool’s city centre mightn’t be your regular haunt for New Years Eve, but our friends at Club Geek Chic are organising a very special night on New Year’s Eve at The Philharmonic Pub on Hope Street that we think has all the signs of a good knees up...
Geek Chic are taking over the entire pub which means an evening entirely catering to people who want to eat, drink and be very, very merry in a sensibly volumed environment! Their promise? “The most elegant, sophisticated night out in the city with a generous portion of glamour and a big old dollop of fun! “ The revelry begins at 8pm for 8.30pm and will end when everyone's had enough revelling.
Entertainment will include comedy, burlesque, close up magic, pub quizzes, a 'Give Us A Clue' charades tournament and other games. Plus live music from the headline act The Velvets (the Liverpool acoustic rock gods who supported The Who on their 2007 tour). At midnight revellers will be invited to drink a complimentary glass of bubbly and eat nibbles to toast in 2009!
There’s optional fancy dress inspired by authors and literary figures past and present but it’s not obligatory (and you definitely won’t be seeing Vinny done up as Dickens as he’s a bit “bah humbug” about all that!!) A bottle of bubbly will be awarded for the best cozzie.
culturepool are offering a limited number of discounted tickets for £20 each (normally £25) which includes all entertainment and a complimentary glass of cava and nibbles at midnight (professional Tarot readings can be booked on the night for £20). To reserve your ticket please email us at
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 0151 236 0796 with your name and contact details. Tickets will be given and payment taken at The Philharmonic on the night.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (hopefully we will see you at The Phil to bring it in!).
