Our second journey to the Write Now festival includes a double header of plays starting at 7pm on Wednesday 31st March, followed by a drink and a chat with the writers, cast & crew after the second performance, which starts at 8.30pm. We’ll be there for both performances, but feel free to come to one or both of the plays.
First up at 7pm is Pippin Hal, a magical comedy-drama from new Liverpool playwright Paul Williams. Here’s what Paul says about it.
Pippin Hal will discover, with a little help from his murdered brother, Benny, and streetwise girlfriend, Debs, that even here, on the mean streets of the Cherrywood estate, hope exists.
Contains hope. May also contain wings.
After a short break Under My Skin starts at 8.30pm. Written by Rob Johnston, the play tells the story of Will and Jimmy who have lost their moral compass. While they wait for it to turn up they think like politicians: it’s only a crime if you get caught. Not a sacred cow is left standing as the boys hack themselves out a new moral pathway.
Then around 10pm we’ll have a chance to talk to both writers, cast & crew about their plays and performances.
Call the Philharmonic Hall box office on 0151 709 3789 or 07534 90 77 98 (reservations only) and quote ‘culturepool’ to receive your £6 tickets for each performance.
