culturepool has its foundations in Art in Mind an 'off-shoot' of Philosophy in Pubs (PIPs). The initial thoughts behind the creation of Art in Mind in 2005 were that philosophical discussion, linking with the ethos of PIPs, would be stimulated by various arts & cultural events. Although this did happen, we found that people were more attracted by the social aspect and came along because “they didn’t know anyone who would be interested in this kind of thing” and wanted to share their experience with people who had similar interests.
When the co-ordinator of Art in Mind moved on we decided to take on board the feedback and review the aims of the group - hence culturepool, which was launched in July 2006.
